Building Better Apps: The Open Source Partner Ecosystem

Since its inception last year, the Sumo Logic App Intelligence Partner Program has seen fantastic growth via new, innovative integrations built by our growing partner ecosystem that enable joint customers to extract greater visibility, intelligence and value from their data.

Today, I’m excited to introduce a brand new way for our technology partners and joint customers to collaborate together in an effort to unlock creative new ways to build rich, high quality apps together -- through our innovative open source partner ecosystem!

Starting today, all Sumo Logic technology partners now have the ability to collaborate on Sumo app development in an open source community with joint customers. This new approach knocks down traditional silos, allowing for frictionless engagement on use case identification, ongoing app improvements aligned with partners’ feature enhancements and resolution of issues. The end result is an improved, self-service model based on best open source practices -- all backed by the experts at Sumo Logic.

To encourage a smooth experience, the integrations team at Sumo Logic has launched a streamlined app contribution, review and publication process entirely through GitHub that allows any Sumo Logic user interested in joining the community to propose new features, fixes and updates for apps in development (or currently developed) by participating partners. Contributions are reviewed through a standard fork and pull request workflow by partner and Sumo leads, then are merged and deployed to our app catalog.

“We’re excited to see Sumo Logic open up the partner ecosystem to the community and our joint customers” said Joseph Tibbetts, the Senior Director of Technology Alliances at Mimecast, who is joining the open source ecosystem as a launch partner. “This new collaborative model will allow us to more easily work with customers who are eager to use our upcoming official Sumo app and bring new use cases to the table that benefit the entire ecosystem.”

At Sumo Logic, we believe that the combined knowledge and expertise from partners, customers and Sumos unlocks new value in our ecosystem for the entire community. We can’t wait to see what innovative ideas come to fruition with the expansion of this program.

Stay tuned for future updates as we continue to grow and foster our open source Sumo community.
